Some information about the province of Sfakia cannot be found on the computer, and some other facts are unknown to many who might want to search for them. I write briefly about some things I have experienced and others that came to my attention through study and tradition.

Despite lacking formal degrees and studies, because I am very well-read and had an excellent memory, absorbing everything I read, I do not consider myself illiterate.
I was born in 1926 and remember well how the world was before the war. I lived through the war, the occupation, the civil war, and two dictatorships (that of 1936 and that of 1967). I witnessed the rapid development of technical civilization, especially after World War II, which influenced both the economic and cultural levels, impacting all phases of life.
I was born in difficult times and into a poor family, and under these conditions, the roadmap for children was solely survival.
Sometimes I have been honored to be appointed as a speaker at various events. I have also given talks on television and radio stations. I participated as a delegate in the International Conference on Folk Medicine in Rethymno, 8-10/12/2000 (not for my scientific knowledge, but for my folkloric expertise).
In 1945, still a teenager, I wrote my first poem about the German occupation. From the 1960s, I began writing articles for newspapers. I have written hundreds of poems.
Since the 1960s, I have been writing articles for newspapers. I have written hundreds of articles and hundreds of poems. Almost all articles related to Sfakia have been typed and compiled into a book, of which I will make several photocopied copies.
In the early 1960s, I was appointed secretary of the community of Asfendou. From that decade, I also began writing articles for newspapers. I kept the newspaper clippings that contained my works.
An important figure in the history of our country during the turbulent 20th century, who is not as well-known or as appreciated as he deserves, is Air Marshal Emmanouil P. Kelaidis, Chief and Minister of the Hellenic Air Force.
Five thousand years ago, we used herbs to fight diseases. In 2700 BC, a list of 365 medicinal plants was written in China. Also, Hammurabi, king of the Babylonians in the 17th century BC, had created a list of medicinal plants.
